Lyrics
HOW COULD THE LOVER EVER DIE?
Words by Rumi ~ translation by Andrew Harvey from his book 'Light Upon Light'
Music by Georgia Carr
I have died time and time again
and Your Breath has always revived me.
If I die in You a thousand time more,
Again I will die in the same way
I was scattered like dust,
and then you gathered me;
Yet how can I die
scattered before your gatheredness?
Like a child that dies
at its mother’s breast,
I will die at the breast of the mercy
And the bounty of the All-Merciful
But what am I saying?
How could the lover ever die?
